It’s a new year, a new decade, and a chance to put your running front and center. 2020 is also a leap year, and that means that it’s a chance to pick up one of the most rare and coveted badge on Smashrun – the Leap Year Sweep.
To get it you’ll need to run every single day for 366 days starting on Jan 1. There’s no minimum distance requirement (although some people set one for themselves). You just have to run Every. Single. Day.
That means scheduling, making sacrifices, and being very, very careful to avoid injury. You’ll need to listen to your body, keep the long range goal in mind, and not take risks by going too hard or too far than your body is ready.
If you pull it off, you’ll earn at least 5 badges, but more importantly you’ll have taken your running to a whole new level.
There’s a reason that just 137 people have earned it. If you want to take a shot you have to commit now and stick with it. Are you in?
NOTE
———————————————–
We hit Strava’s daily rate limit today. This is pretty disappointing, but the first time it has happened so far. We’ve had a lot of new registrations connecting to Strava today, so hoping this won’t be a problem going forward.
That unfortunately means, until the rate limit resets, you’ll need to upload a TCX or FIT file.
Can we expect to see any new badges anytime soon? The badges are a fun way to add in diverse goals and keep training interesting. New ones would be happily welcomed =D
There are no new badges in the works yet, but we’ll be releasing a feature to allow you to earn multiple badges very soon.
Arrgh! I want it. I want it baaaaaad.
Any badge for getting it a second time π
If you go to Settings -> Profile -> Pro Configuration. You can select re-earn badges. If you configure it for today, you could shoot for being one of just a few people who have a shot at earning it 2X.
Saw the tweet and on a whim decided to go for it!!
Hi Chris
New decade starts at 2021 π
A lot of people want to get it
I travel trans-Pacific sometimes. Can you adjust my runs to my home Timezone so I can get 366 even if I cross the dateline? Crossing it westerly (from US to NZ) hops a day instantly so itβs impossible to record a run that date even if I run every 24 hours without fail.
The Rolling Stones said time is on my side. They lied to me!
So long as you run once every 24 hours, we’re happy to adjust the timezones to help you keep your streak alive when you’re traveling internationally.
Awesome, thanks so much. I’ll appear in your inbox begging for TZ adjustments later this year
Is there a way to see the special 2020 version of this badge again? I wanted to share it and I can’t find it…. The URL seems to only be the same as the regular leap year version….
Yep. The 2020 version shows up under the “Limited” edition tab.
Hi – I was wondering how many runners ended up earning the badge in the end? I checked and it only showed the first 100 who had photos. I’m a stats nerd – that’s why I use Smashrun π
468 people completed it this year. Pretty incredible.
